Melting Snow and Making Birdseed Pies for the Trees

 Hi everyone!

Hope that your week has been terrific.

Lots of snow melting in my area of Virginia. Lots of sunshine last week too.

I am writing this on Sunday night, as I usually do.

It rained all day today.   Was a cozy, quiet day spent inside.  I never even got out of my pajamas.

On Saturday afternoon, Valentine's Day, I went to my sons to join in on Taco Night with his family.  Was great company and great to be with them.    All three of their daughters were at home, so I got to see them all.  He lives about an hour away from where I do.  Was a beautiful day for a drive.

My little granddaughter, Olivia  was spending the weekend with me.   Her mom always gets her a pink drink from Star Bucks when possible.

So she and I stopped for that and for a English breakfast hot tea for me on our way to my son's home.

His home is so cozy.   They like candles as much as I do

My granddaughter Kaidyn got a crochet kit for Christmas and she wanted some guidance from me.   We spent some time doing that.   Her mom is bringing her by next week and we will work on it some more together.

Today, I started organizing my crochet stuff.  I will add more crochet project photos next week.

Got out my tote of acrylic paints and brushes.  Olivia continued painting her wooden tea set and she painted a heart for her mom for Valentines Day.

We stopped and had our ritual tea.  It's a time together that I cherish and I hope she will grow up with wonderful memories of tea with her Nana as I have from having tea with my own grandmother.

We spent the rest of Sunday afternoon making birdseed pies to hang in the trees for the birds.
This was the first time I have ever done that.   We used melted Crisco shortening and peanut butter.    Over the years, I have always saved the tiny pie tins from the little pies I've bought from the bakery.  So we decided to use those.

We used the wooden sticks to make the holes to put the twine in at the end.

They have to stay in the fridge overnight so I packed up some of them for her to take home and put in her fridge.   She and her mom can hang them in the trees around their house.   I will hang the remainder ones in the trees here.

It's been a quiet week.
I wasn't looking forward to Valentine's Day.

But love is in our lives in so many ways, if we only keep our heart and soul open to it.

Well on my way to 63 years on this earth, I've had some pretty wonderful moments.  So many that it just isn't necessary to mention or dwell on the not so wonderful.  Or on the lonely.

Growing old on my own was not something I set out to do.  Not something I guess I ever even thought about much.

But again, I have the love of my family.   Some very dear friends.   My faith and I have myself.

This past year - I've learned to like myself.   I'm taking the current year to expand that into self love.   I'm taking my time and I'm embracing this season of my life.  Loosening my grip on how I thought life should go and just flowing and following God's lead in all things.

I wish you all a wonderful week and Thank you so much for stopping by!

My dearest friend from Ashville is coming in this weekend so I'm hoping to have some great photo shares and stories for next week.
We are going to explore downtown Roanoke a bit and maybe take a trip up to the star on the mountain.

Cheers!
