Week 1 - Finding the Good

You know, everywhere you look lately you are bombarded with horrific news, politics, horrific news, terrible weather events, horrific news, politics....

And sometimes it just overwhelms me.

I do believe that it is necessary to be aware of what is happening in this world of ours but when I let myself read or watch too much of it... it pulls my spirit down.

I have intentionally looked for "good" news but it falls short on the major news networks.  Even in the small town I live in, it's getting harder to find the good.  But its out there.

So for me, I challenge myself to keep up with world and local events, but not to dwell there.

Instead, I plan to check good news websites more often and write a positive weekly blog here at Whispering Horn.

The first thing I want to share with you this week is a couple of the Good News and/or Inspirational websites that I like to visit....

The Good News Network

Daily Good

I have found some of the most heart warming and inspirational stories at both of these sites.  Some days you just need to believe in humanity again.

Things have been pretty steady for me in my life.   Lot's of family time.  Work is going great.   A quick road trip to Maryland to pick my husband up from his three week visit with his mom and sister.  My youngest daughter went with me and other than the traffic on the Interstate we took, it was a pleasant and fun trip.

I've decided to embark on a fun project for my granddaughters. I absolutely love making bed dolls and I thought.....why haven't I made any of these for them?

They take awhile to make so I've very excited to start on one this weekend.

Here are a couple of photos of several different patterns I have saved...

Above are just a few photos from the patterns.

I've decided to begin with the third one.  Her pattern name is RosemaryAnn.

The pattern...

I've decided to make her yellow with white trim.  The ruffled underslip will be white.  The roses I put on will be pink.

My on going facebook and instagram challenge of my year 53

A Prayer to Share...

  1. Love all the photos! That sunset one is gorgeous and I love the mushrooms!

I love bed dolls! I still remember the one Nanny made me :)

    1. These bed dolls are a little different than the ones Nanny made. I think you mean the Barbie ones? They are gorgeous and I have all of the patterns! Maybe I will try one like that one day. These are done with yarn and baby yarn and use a 13 inch music box doll.

  2. Debbie. Love your philosophy to focus more on the positive than the negative. Lord knows there is plenty of the latter. Thank you so much for your visits to my posts, too. I'm always happy to see that you have stopped by. Susan

    1. Thank you so much for your comment and thank you for coming by for a visit :)
