Day 6-7-8 - Yard Sales, Drive -In, Catching Up

Yes, I have been super busy for the last few days so I'm behind in posting but not behind in adventuring.

Day 6, my adventure was hitting the yard sales with my youngest...

We really had a great time.  Got some great bargains....bought some unnecessaries and met some funny people.

First a couple of odd things that we liked but did not buy....

This hash tag coffee cup....I really wanted it but figured I would never use it with that crazy handle.....lol

And I loved this picture, but no where to hang it

We did get a good deal on a pool for the kids - new in the box and a ice cream maker.  I can't wait to get together with the grandkids for that.

I did pay a local craftsman  for this beautiful hand carved box.   I just absolutely love it.

And at another yardsale, this Haitian woman had some awesome stuff.  This purse caught my eye and I just had to get it for a dollar...she tried to steer me to some of the beautiful clothes she had out there but I stayed away from that....

And some cute things to refurbish for the fairy garden we are going to be working on soon.  This little swing is awesome.  Taking the bunny off and putting a fairy there....and check out that little quilt rack.  Love it.

From the same craftsman that I got the wolf box from, Becky got this hand carved ring.  Made of holly.  I don't think she plans to wear it but it really is beautiful and unusual.

Next adventure on Day 7 was the local drive in.  We went to see Malificent and might I say that was a wonderful movie!!

We had two toddlers and a baby with us and considering that, we did pretty good :D

And for Day 8 -- just catching up with this blog and some photo shares on my facebook.

Not going to let having to play catch up once in a while bother me.

The purpose of this blog challenge is to do something every day, a little adventure or sometimes a big adventure.

Just eight days into it and wow, I've already made some wonderful memories.

Photos, words.  Those are memories.

Many events from my earlier life....I would love to have moments from them captured.  Being pregnant with my babies is a big regret because there are virtually no pictures during any of those times.

My advice is to take lots of pictures.  Capture everything you can because later on, when times are quiet, when some have moved on as they should and when you are sitting alone with your own thoughts, the pictures are beautiful.   Vivid reminders of your life.  Year by year.  Moment by moment.  Christmas, birthdays, summer, winter, new babies, family gatherings, pets, places, friends, home, work, nature......

Always, always remember.....

There is a new adventure waiting for you around every corner.

Day 5 - 30 Days of Adventure - WallyWorld

Yes the adventure tonight was most definitely Walmart ...way after dark.

My sidekick Rebecca was back home and was happy to go with me...

But first...

a McCoffee.... at the McCafe.....

Our prime purpose was to get a mate for the pink flamingo that now resides in our yard...

But, unfortunately, that area of Walmart was closed this time of night.....
Becky said.....How did that happen..

So at least we got a picture through the glass....

So even though we were sad about the pink flamingo that Becky plans to name Jim.....

we headed to the clearance isle...

Nothing we wanted there.....

Spent some time looking at the outdoor decorating stuff....

Becky wants one of those bird houses on the top shelf.... I could not reach it and there wasn't a Walmart employee anywhere to be found....

Pretty

OMG, I need this motorcycle riding gnome for my brother....

And Becky really wanted this but there was no way we were paying that price....

At this point, we were really having a good time and enjoying some silly mother/daughter time.  We had some very rocky years in our relationship, so I really cherish the new friendship that my youngest daughter and I are developing.

We had to walk through the book section.... she found an Ariel book but didn't get it because she found two books she has been wanting......

Then we just had to venture into the craft section and I am so proud of myself because I didn't buy any yarn.

We enjoyed looking at all the beads.  Becky has made some beautiful jewelry and I hope she starts doing it again.  I have never done much with that and don't want to start,,,, but I could resist these charms/amulets and some chains to put them on.

And going to Walmart this time of night, when else do you get to park in row number ONE and space number ONE  :D

No life long lessons or ideas in this...yet another grand adventure.

Except to remember to keep the fun in your life.

It's important.

Very.

Even if it's just a silly, fun trip to a store, late at night.  For no good reason.

Day 4 - 30 Days of Adventure - Gathering of Self

Todays adventure is Gathering of Self.

Which means, leaving the internet for a short while :)

This is a grand adventure and I highly recommend it occasionally for everyone.  Especially if you spend a lot of time on the internet like I do.   Which I love to do and wouldn't change it for anything.

But tonight, I gather myself back in.

I will spend a little time reading and a little time writing and possible a little time choosing some new online classes to begin.

To those who read this blog, I am sending out much love.

Day 3 - 30 Days of Adventure -- Spiritual

I decided I didn't want to go out today and will save my original idea for an adventure for another day.

My adventure today takes inventory of some very spiritual things I have and that I do...

From reading some incredible, enlightening books, to my growing collection of healing stones.  And then there are the journals.  I have written in journals for years and part of tonights adventure will be reading some of the older ones.....

Spirituality and spiritual practices are very important in my life.   I have honestly seen the power of intention and the power of prayer.

For me it is quite simple....for me.

God.

and what is God?

The Christian bible says that God is Love.

That is very easy for me to understand.

And do I believe that God made all..

Yes I do.

So believing in the energy that fills the world.   Respecting the ancient religions.  Finding the love of Christ among the fields and trees where he told us to seek him..

Understanding that all creation is filled with wonder and gifts.

Healing stones.  Shamanic practices.  Herbs.  Nature.

I am closest to the practices of my Native American ancestors.

So tonight for my adventure, I set about organizing many of the things I hold dear to me.

And later, I will light a candle, say a prayer, ask for guidance and ask for a mind that is open always to the wonders of this world.

I'm sharing a special prayer with you tonight

A Sioux Prayer

Oh Great Spirit

Whose voice I hear in the wind
And whose breath gives life to the world
Hear Me
I come to you as one of your many children
I am small and weak
I need your strength and wisdom

May I walk in beauty
May my eyes ever behold the red and purple sunset
Make my hands respect the things you have made
and my ears sharp to your voice
Make me wise so that I may understand the things you have taught your people
Let me learn the lessons you have written in every leaf and rock

Make me strong!
Not to be superior to my brothers
but to fight my greatest enemy, Myself.
Make me always ready to come to you
with clean hands and straight eyes
So when life fades as the fading sunset
May my spirit come to you without shame.

Day 2 - 30 Days of Adventure - Flowers

Today's adventure was all about flowers :)

Back in the spring, we got the flower beds ready but I just didn't take the time to go get the flowers....meant to.   But didn't get around to it...or is that aroundtuit?   lol

After work, once again, youngest daughter accompanied me to shop for some flowers.  She got some a few weeks ago and planted them in some pretty silver pails.  Her's are doing beautiful.

We decided to go to Walmart and see what they had left to choose from.

So many beautiful flowers but I kind of stuck with my old favorites...petunias and begonias.

Sometimes it's okay to stick with what's comfortable.  But I think you need to throw in something you've never had...or you've never done..or you've done before and would like to do again.....

Just to add some fun.

So our fun was a pink flamingo :)   I have always wanted one....but never got one.  So now, we have one, right among the petunias :)  And Becky has decided that it's a lonely flamingo so we will go back and get a mate for it tomorrow :)

Yet another good adventure.  There was silliness and laughter.. seriousness of choosing the colors and lots of talking about hanging baskets and other ideas for outside this summer.

Becky just realized we have an outdoor fireplace that can be moved to the back yard.....so she's planning to use that soon too.

As I watered the new little plants in the flower beds I thought of family.

How relationships thrive when they are watered enough.

With my kids.  My grandkids.  My brother.  All of my family.  My friends.

I plan to water my relationship with each of them more.  But at the same time, using a little caution because too much water can cause damage.

June 1st - 30 Days of Adventure - Serenity

Only on day one and I'm already loving this blog challenge :)   My daughter Becky and I made a list of adventures all month, some small, some larger.

I want to share a thought that many of us already know.

Life is Short.
Live each moment.  Spread Love and Kindness everywhere you go.
Let go of the earthly things.

Light a candle, take a deep breath, close your eyes and Let Go of stress.

Honestly, when it's time for you to leave this earth, what will really matter then?

Because whatever that is.....what matters the most to you...live it now.  Every day.
Tomorrow is never promised to any of us.

Some people say, if a doctor told me I was going to die...how would I live my life differently?

Well....
We are all going to die.  We are all here for just a little while until we return to the place where Love lives...

So C'mon people......Love One Another.

As for today's Adventure.

The beautiful little town I live in, Bedford Virginia, has three parks.  All of which I love to go to, take pictures and just be close to nature and to God.

So my adventure today was to go to all three parks.  Just take my time and enjoy each of them as they are.

Each park gave me a gift today.

The first park....

As I walked along the beautiful walking paths and thought about my life.  My family.  My friends.  All the people who matter the most to me.... some of the scenery I passed by..

And this beautiful feather was a gift.

Got into the car and went to the second park.  The peace at this next place means so much to me.  It is on the grounds of the Bedford Library - which is one of my favorite places because books bring peace to my soul.

This garden is just full of paths and benches and beautiful flowers.  There is also a hedge maze there.  Another quiet place to reflect on decisions, both past and present.  To come to terms with regrets and to make promises to myself to live in such a way that there are no more regrets.

And other than serenity, the other gift this park gave me today was the opportunity to photograph his cute little guy.

And the third park is a large park.  I only drove through today and got out of the car once. This park holds many family memories for me.  From Susan and Roberts 16/18 birthday parties... to football games, softball games, baseball games.  And at Christmas time, the park is full of animated Christmas decorations.  There is an incredible view of the Peaks of Otter - the mountain that radiates strength to the entire area I live in.

And the gift this park gave to me today was this wonderful family of geese who I was able to photograph and watch.  I couldn't get too close because one of the parents was ever watching me......

The adventure today was inspiring to me and I was able to take a lot of photographs and feel at peace within myself.

And today, my youngest daughter, Rebecca, accompanied me on this grand adventure.   That was truly the best part of it all.

I encourage anyone reading this blog to make the most of every day.  Even in a small way.  Don't over think things....let life flow and believe in the goodness of the world.
I think we all worry to some extent....what if... how is that gonna be possible....I just can't.....

How wonderful would it be to retrain our way of thinking?  To understand that we are only here temporarily...
And to remember when we think...What if it goes wrong?

Well, so what.  What if it does.  I would rather live with the possibility of things going right than going to sleep at night with regrets because I let negative thoughts and fear rule my actions.

I'm here to live whatever time I have remaining here.    Today, come and join me.  Do what you have to do in life.....work, pay bills, laundry..... but stop for just a minute and add a adventure to your day that makes your soul sing.   After this, my first day, I can say....it is so worth it.

"Cmon People Now
Smile on your Brother
Everybody get together
Try to Love one another right now."

And begin with loving yourself.

Peace - Blessings - Eternity
